Meta Ads vs Google Ads: which one should your business start with?

Team Vyral Click 2 min read

“Should we run Facebook ads or Google ads?” is the question we hear most from business owners. The honest answer is: it depends on how your customers look for you. The two platforms solve different problems.

Google Ads captures demand that already exists

When someone types “CA near me” or “best CBSE school in Indore”, they already want something. Google Ads lets you appear at that exact moment. This is called intent, and it is why search ads often convert well even with a simple landing page.

  • Best for: services people actively search for — clinics, coaching, repairs, legal, real estate, B2B.
  • Watch out for: competitive keywords can be expensive, and you can only reach people who are already searching.

Meta Ads create demand

On Instagram and Facebook, nobody is searching for you. You interrupt their scroll with something interesting. That makes Meta excellent for products and offers people did not know they wanted — and for building a brand people recognise.

  • Best for: fashion, food, D2C products, events, courses, local offers and anything visual.
  • Watch out for: results depend heavily on creative. A weak video will not be saved by clever targeting.

A simple way to decide

  1. Check search demand. Use Google Keyword Planner to see whether people search for your service in your city. If they do, start with Google Search.
  2. Check your creative strength. If you can produce eye-catching reels, photos or offers, Meta can scale faster.
  3. Know your numbers. Decide what you can afford to pay for a lead or a sale before you spend anything.

The best answer is usually both — in the right order

Many of our clients start with Google Search to capture ready buyers, then add Meta to build awareness and retarget people who visited the website but did not enquire. Each platform makes the other more efficient.
