How to plan a month of Instagram Reels in one afternoon
The biggest reason brands stop posting is not a lack of ideas — it is deciding what to post every single day. Batching fixes that. Block three hours, follow these steps and walk away with a month of content.
Step 1: Pick three or four content pillars
Pillars are the recurring themes your audience cares about. For a café they might be behind the scenes, menu highlights, customer moments and offers. Every reel should fit one pillar.
Step 2: Write 20 hooks before you write any scripts
The first two seconds decide whether people keep watching. Write hooks as questions, bold statements or surprising visuals:
- “Stop making this mistake with your …”
- “3 things nobody tells you about …”
- “We tried … so you do not have to.”
Keep the best 12–16.
Step 3: Turn each hook into a 3-part script
Hook → value → call to action. Keep most reels between 15 and 45 seconds. Write on-screen text as well, because many people watch without sound.
Step 4: Build a shoot list and batch by location
Group reels by where they are filmed and what you need to wear or show. You can often shoot a week of content in under an hour this way.
Bonus: plan for repurposing
Every reel can also become a YouTube Short, a story and a carousel. Plan the extra formats while you are scripting and your month of reels becomes a month of content across every platform.
